About the Glenn
Family Foundation

From Humble Beginnings

Who We Are

The Glenn Family Foundation (GFF) honors the rich legacy and faith of their parents, Essie B. and William Earl Glenn. Through this structural and urgent community vision, the seven siblings hold their parents’ commitment to service in high esteem. The Glenn Foundation seeks to improve life outcomes for Mississippi’s children, youth, and families by partnering with like-minded community organizations.

GFF believes in an integrated, intergenerational approach to engaging students, parents, and teachers in the communities where they serve. The Foundations I-HEAL (Integrated Health Empowerment and Literacy) is a trauma-informed health literacy curriculum that educates students, parents, and teachers on making positive decisions through SMART goal-setting activities. These activities promote, encourage, and reward age- and grade-appropriate upward mobility, fostering a growth mindset anchored on strength-based support systems.

Community participants receive a range of support services, including healthy food boxes containing fresh fruits and vegetables, comprehensive wellness panels, flu shots, blood pressure checks, and screenings for diabetes, cancer, and dental issues, among other wrap-around services provided at no cost to families. The essence of GFF’s work is best summed up in the words of their mother’s favorite song, “If I can help somebody as I travel on, then my living shall not be in vain.”

The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?
