The over-arching goal of the symposium is to help increase Community awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences that lead to Trauma. We believe its very critical that we GROW a community of individuals who are informed and can show compassion and sensitivity.

About the Conference
The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) Trauma Awareness Symposium promotes bold ideas and breakthrough approaches that can make a considerable difference to youth, families and communities in the State of Mississippi.
Based on studies conducted throughout the nation on the importance ACEs Adverse Childhood Experiences education, community awareness, and formulation of partnerships, we are excited to announce that the following renowned speakers who will join us and share their expertise and passion:
Dr. Robert F. Anda
Physician and Principal Investigator of the Landmark Center for Disease Control (CDC) Kaiser Permanente Adverse Childhood Expertise Study; Co-Founder of ACEs Interface, LLC.
Mrs. Laura Porter
Researcher, Population Health Strategist co-founder of ACE Interface LLC. Mrs. Porter works with over 30 communities and nine Tribes, she developed a model for increasing the capacity of communities to prevent ACEs and their effects, and provides education, facilitation, and empowerment strategies for building Self-Healing Communities.
Dr. Altha Stewart
Psychiatrist, University of Tennessee School of Medicine; Immediate Past President, American Psychiatric Association; noted leader in the area of ACEs-Trauma.
Dr. Mary Coleman
Senior Vice- President & Chief Operations Officer of Economic Mobility Pathways (EmPath-ways) in Boston, Massachusetts. Empath is an international economic mobility action tank, serving over 350,000 families in the United States and beyond. Mary is a former Woodrow Wilson International Scholar and is currently working on a publication entitled: Ups and Downs the Story of the Sunflower to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2020.
